Bengaluru, India—25th March 2025: The World Water Day, established by the United Nations, is a powerful reminder of the necessity for responsible water management and the essential role of freshwater in our lives.

LaundryMate, a leading online laundry brand, partnered with the Bangalore Apartments Federation (BAF)—which represents and advocates for the interests of apartments and Resident Welfare Associations across Bengaluru— to promote water conservation on this significant day.

With Bengaluru facing ongoing water shortages and the prospect of a dry summer ahead, the importance of adopting sustainable water practices has become more pressing than ever. Bengaluru requires 2,100 million litres of water per day (MLD) but currently faces a shortage of 650 MLD — about 30%. The Cauvery River is drying up, groundwater levels are falling, and the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is facing an estimated yearly loss of 1,000 crore ($115 million).

Through their joint initiative, LaundryMate and BAF have worked to inspire collective action toward smarter water use. A key highlight of the campaign was the recognition of residential welfare associations who demonstrated outstanding dedication to conserving water in their communities.
