NEW DELHI: Amid volatility in the crude oil market, fuel retailers did not change the prices of petrol and diesel today. Fuel prices were last increased on January 22 and since then the rates have either remained stagnant or fallen. Yesterday, the price of petrol was decreased by 15 paise per litre and the price of diesel by 10 paise.
A litre of petrol today costs ₹70.44 in Delhi, ₹72.76 in Bengaluru or Bangalore, ₹76.08 in Mumbai, ₹73.11 in Chennai, ₹74.73 in Hyderabad, ₹72.55 in Kolkata, ₹70.34 in Noida and ₹71.35 in Gurgaon. Diesel costs ₹65.51 a litre in Delhi, ₹67.67 in Bengaluru, ₹68.59 in Mumbai, ₹69.20 in Chennai, ₹71.22 in Hyderabad, ₹67.29 in Kolkata, ₹64.75 in Noida and ₹65.35 in Gurgaon.
Since the beginning of this year, petrol and diesel prices have jumped by ₹2 and ₹3 per litre, respectively.
Benchmark Brent crude oil, which has rallied about 1.2% during the last seven days, edged higher for the first time in three sessions on Wednesday, although concerns over the outlook for the global economy capped gains.
US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were trading below $54 per barrel today while Brent crude oil futures were above $62.05 per barrel, Reuters reported. Crude oil has rallied about 20% this year as the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Russia and other partners cut volumes by the most in two years.
