Vodafone and Idea Cellular have merged their mobile business as Vodafone Idea Limited, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Tri) is still releasing separate network speed data of both the entities
New Delhi: Reliance Jio had the highest download speed in the month of November. The carrier has topped the chart of 4G speed in the month of November with a data download rate of 20.8 megabit per second (Mbps). In terms of upload speeds, Vodafone was ahead of others with a speed of 6.5 Mbps. The latest data was release by telecom regulator Trai.
Reliance Jio managed to outdo its closest competitor, Vodafone by clocking double the download speed.
According to the data revealed by TRAI, Vodafone recorded download speed of 9.8 Mbps in November that was revealed on December 10. In the third place, Idea managed to register a download speed of 8.8 Mbps followed by Airtel which registed a download speed of 8Mbps.
Despite the official merger of Vodafone and Idea Cellular, TRAI has continued to release data speeds of the entities separately.
In terms of upload speed, tables seem to have turned against Reliance Jio. Vodafone topped the chart in the upload data speed by registering 6.5 Mbps. It was followed by Idea with upload speed of 5.8 Mbps, Airtel 4 Mbps and Jio 3.7 Mbps.
The download speed helps consumers in accessing content from the internet while upload speed helps them in sending or sharing pictures, video etc to their contacts.
The average speed is computed by Trai based on the data it collects across India with the help of its MySpeed application on a real-time basis.
