The 21-day lockdown in the country has forced many people to work from home. In order to accomodate the needs of users, Reliance Jio is planning to privide new JioFiber connection that will offer high-speed data.
According to a new report by The Economic Times, the company is planning to launch JioFiber free basic broadband offer. Under this offer, the company will offer data speed of 10mbps with FUP of 100GB. After exhausting 100GB, the speed will switch to 1mbps.
The report claims that the plan will be offered in 'geographically viable' locations without service charges for a period of 30 days. The company will also provide home gateway and charge a security deposit of ₹1500 and an installation fee of ₹1000 for it.
Jio will provide access to voice calls, video calling, TV calling, video conferencing and other Jio applications once the user purchases a Reliance Jio data plan starting from Bronze. The company will also provide the option to upgrade speed according to the user’s choice. The company will also offer speeds higher than 10mbps. The new plan will only be applicable for new customers.
The company also released a prepaid plan to provide data for users working at home. The ₹251 plan provides 2GB of data per day for a period of 28 days. However, the plan does not provide access to different exclusive Jio applications or voice and messaging benefits.
Other network carriers like Airtel and Vodafone Idea have also launched various data plans to cater to the surge in data consumption in the country after the lockdown was announced.
