Sensex Today | Market Close Highlights : Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) net sold shares worth 754.59 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) purchased 452.70 crore worth of stocks on February 19, provisional data from the NSE showed.

Sensex Today | Market Close Highlights : European stocks and US equity futures declined as a cautious mood permeated global markets despite China’s latest measures to support its ailing property sector.

The Stoxx Europe 600 index fell about 0.3% at the open, snapping a four day rising streak that took it to within two points of its January 2022 record high on Monday.

Futures on the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 slipped, with US financial markets set to reopen after Monday’s public holiday. The 10-year Treasury yield was steady ahead of an auction of 40-year notes.

Elsewhere, Asian stocks fell after a reduction in China’s mortgage reference rate failed to dispel concerns about the world’s no. 2 economy. Benchmarks in Japan, Australia and South Korea were all in the red. Chinese stocks fluctuated.

Gold prices on Tuesday jumped 34 to 62,038 per 10 grams in futures trade as speculators created fresh positions on a firm spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for April delivery traded higher 34, or 0.05 per cent, at 62,038 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 13,387 lots.

Oil prices edged lower on Tuesday but remained near three-week highs on heightened Middle East tensions and as China showed some signs of economic recovery.

Brent futures dipped 29 cents or 0.35% to $83.27 a barrel by 0912 GMT.

U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude for April delivery fell 38 cents, or 0.38%, to $78.08 a barrel.
