“Who decides what’s feminine and what’s masculine? It’s about time we stepped away from these stereotypes,” says Eishita Puri, founder of homegrown jewellery brand Eurumme, which has recently launched its gender-fluid accessories collection.
Eurumme is among the increasing number of brands that are including gender-fluid accessories to their collections. Much of the rise can be attributed to the change in tastes, spending power of millennials and post-millennials and the values they base their investments on. “The industry is now gradually looking beyond stereotypes. Gender fluid jewellery is certainly a step in the right direction. Young consumers, particularly millennials, are increasingly affecting this change,” adds Puri.
More brands are coming up with collections "featuring diversity or are doing shows with models irrespective of not just gender and body but also age", insists Ritumainty Mondal, founder of Perthro Jewellery.
