West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari will inaugurate the state government's Annapurna Yojana on Wednesday, under which women beneficiaries will receive financial assistance every month.

"The chief minister will inaugurate Annapurna Yojana around 12.30 PM," an official said.

Beneficiaries will join the programme virtually from venues set up at block, municipal and Kolkata Municipal Corporation levels. The official said that 100 beneficiaries from each block, municipality and the KMC area will receive their sanction letters on the day.

They would be identified by sub-divisional officers (SDOs) and block development officers (BDOs), with final approval from the district magistrates or the Kolkata Municipal Corporation commissioner.

MLAs will also be present at the programme venues in their respective areas.

Beneficiaries will receive 3,000 every month as financial assistance.

Annapurna Yojana, one of the key poll promises of the BJP in this year's West Bengal assembly elections, will replace the previous TMC government's 'Lakshmir Bhandar' scheme, under which beneficiaries received a maximum of 1,500 per month.
