Air India's Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft (AI 171) from Ahmedabad to London crashed into a medical college moments after takeoff from the airport on 12 June 2025. This resulted in one of the deadliest aircraft crashes in the world, claiming the lives of 241 souls on board and many others on the ground, with only one survivor successfully escaping the scene.

The 40-year-old sole survivor, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, walked out of the accident scene alive with injuries, while everyone else died on the spot. Videos of the accident went viral on social media platforms, with millions of people around the world commenting on it.

A social media user sharing a video said that the man walking in the white shirt was Ramesh, who was seated at 11A.

“This man walking in white shirt Mr. Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, Seat 11 A has survived the today's Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It's a miracle. He is the only one survivor confirmed by Ahmedabad Police. Thanks God,” said a social media user and climate activist named Licypriya Kangujam in a post on platform X.

Social media reacts

People on social media were devastated after the videos from the Air India plane crash went viral on the platform X. People were hoping to see more survivors walking out of the scene. However, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh was the only lucky person to have lived through one of the deadliest aviation accidents.

“Truly hope maximum survivors are there who were in the plane and at the medical college and civilians on the ground,” commented a social media user named Ashar Hussain Khan to the post on X.

As of 16 June 2025, the post has received more than 1.15 lakh views on the social media platform.

Others like Hemant Yadhav appreciated Ramesh's on-the-spot thinking to get off the Boeing aircraft, which was engulfed in flames after the accidental touchdown. “Miracle seat and good presence of mind!!” he said in response to the social media post.

Many people commenting on the post also thanked god for saving even one person's life from the deadly incident which happened on 12 June 2025.

“A miracle in the midst of tragedy. My heart goes out to all the lives lost and their loved ones. Praying for healing, strength, and peace, and deeply thankful that Mr. Vishwash Kumar Ramesh survived. Life is fragile. Every breath, a gift,” said a social media user named tmoniiyoungbless.
