On Friday, Telangana High Court heard the case linked to the tragic death of a woman during a stampede at the Sandhya Theatre.
Massive crowd had gathered at the movie hall on December 4 to catch a glimpse of the actor. Amid large gathering, much beyond the capacity of the theatre, the situation became chaotic and a 35-year-old woman, named Revathi, lost her life in the incident due to asphyxiation. At the same time, her nine-year-old son, Sri Teja, suffered injuries. Teja is undergoing treatment at Super Speciality Hospital.
Allu Arjun approached the Telangana High Court seeking to quash the FIR against him by the deceased's family. Hyderabad police registered a case against the actor, his security team and the theatre management, under sections 105 and 118(1) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Chikkadpally police station.
Neither the theatre management nor the actor's team intimated the authorities about the actor and his cast's visit, according to police. After Allu Arjun's arrest, Hyderabad Additional Commissioner of Police (law and order) Vikram Singh Mann said, "We are following the procedure," PTI reported.
Earlier, the police arrested three others in this case, including M Sandeep, who is one of the owners of Sandhya Theatre. Senior manager M Nagaraju and lower balcony incharge Gandhakam Vijay Chander were the two others arrested.
Pushpa 2 lead actor was subsequently sent to 14-day judicial custody by a Hyderabad court and granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court in the case.

Allu Arjun Arrest LIVE Updates: A senior official of the Telangana prisons department on Saturday said Allu Arjun "did not ask the jail authorities any favours," PTI reported.
Clarifying that Pushpa 2 star was not released despite the HC's order, the official said no prisoner will be released after 7 PM, as per the jail manual. He further informed that the actor was kept separately along with other accused. In exceptional cases, the release time can be extended up to 9:00 PM.
He further alleged that an official not less than the Jailer rank should be present to complete the formalities to release any prisoners from the prison. Blaming administrative delays, he said that HC's interim bail order physical copy arrived at the prison at 11.30 PM.
Allu Arjun Arrest LIVE Updates: A senior official of the Telangana prisons department on Saturday said Allu Arjun was “quite normal" while at Chanchalguda Central prison. Allu Arjun spent Friday night in jail and was released on Saturday morning. He was shifted to the prison at 6.30 PM on December 13 and was released at 6.20 AM on the next day.
"He did not appear depressed. The dinner time is normally 5.30 pm. However, late admissions will also be served food. The actor had rice and vegetable curry, and he was treated as a special class prisoner as per the court's order," PTI quoted the official as saying.
Pushpa 2 actor was provided with a cot and a table and chair, as per the court's directives for separate class prisoners. The official added, “He did not ask the jail authorities any favours."

Actor Allu Arjun will be released from a Hyderabad central jail early Saturday morning, police said. While speaking to reporters last night, The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force informed, "He (Allu Arjun) will be released tomorrow morning."
The lawyer of actor Allu Arjun, Ashok Reddy, criticised Hyderabad jail authorities for "not complying" with the bail order granted to the 'Pushpa' star by the Telangana High Court in the Sandhya theatre incident.
"Order copy of the high court clearly directing the Superintendent of jail to release Allu Arjun forthwith and Superintendent has directed to ensure to release but despite the order...they are not releasing him," the lawyer said.
Allu Arjun Arrest LIVE Updates: Amid reports that Sandhya Cine Enterprise had requested Hyderabad police for security during premiere show, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Zone, Hyderabad City issued a clarification. A letter dated December 2 is being circulated in social media, seeking arrangement or ‘bandobast’ on December 4 and 5 in connection with the release of the 'Pushpa-2.'
According to the police, the organiser did not meet any officer and simply submitted the letter.
The notice states, “In specific cases where a heavy crowd is expected or some popular personality is visiting, the organizer personally visits the police station / ACP / DCP office and briefs about the program depending upon which we provide the bandobust. In this case, the organizer did not meet any officer and simply submitted the letter in the inward section. No details were made available to the police despite this we arranged suitable bandobust for crowd management outside the theatre. The crowd was well in control till the actor arrived."

Taking to social media platform X, Ashwini Vaishnaw stated, “Congress has no respect for the creative industry and the arrest of Allu Arjun proves it yet again."
He further noted that the mishap at Sandhya Theatre was a clear case of poor arrangements by the state and local administration. He alleged that the authorities were indulging in publicity stunts to deflect blame.
“The Telangana Government should assist those affected and punish those making the arrangements that day instead of continuously attacking film personalities. It is also sad to see this becoming a norm in the one year Congress has been in power there," the post added .
Allu Arjun Arrest LIVE Updates: Defended the police action regarding the arrest of Telugu actor Allu Arjun, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Friday said they were doing their job.
While speaking at the Aaj Tak Agenda program, the Telangana CM said, “Allu Arjun didn’t simply watch the film and leave. He came out from the car’s sunroof, cheering and greeting fans who were celebrating his movie’s release. This caused the situation to get out of control."
On the arrest of actor Allu Arjun over the death of a woman at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, filmmaker Ashoke Pandit says, "...That was a very sad incident, there is no two opinion on that. But having said that, blaming Allu Arjun to be responsible for that, I can't buy that. He is an icon of this country and he went to see the response of his film which people have responded so positively to.."
“He must have never thought that this would happen. So, blaming the death entirely on Allu Arjun is not on the right perspective. I am thankful to Revathi's (deceased woman) husband Bhaskar who has appealed to withdraw his case and he also said that he cannot blame Allu Arjun for this...He has given ₹25 Lakhs to the family. The money doesn't matter here, we have lost a person. I appeal to the Govt and CM and the Police there that Allu Arjun doesn't deserve this kind of treatment. He should not have been arrested.."
Speaking to Aaj Tak on Allu Arjun's arrest, actor and MP Kangana Ranaut said while whatever has happened is unfortunate, everybody should be held accountable.
Kangana shared, "It is very unfortunate, I am a very big supporter of Allu Arjun ji. Having said that, you have to set an example. He has got the bail. But just because we are high-profile people, that doesn't mean we shouldn't have any consequences. People's lives are very precious. Be it smoking ads or a crowded theatre, I think they (the Pushpa 2 team) were present at the event. Everybody should have accountability."
Issuing a clarification in the Sandhya Theartre stampede case, Hyderabad police said there was enough bandobast at the event. And crowd was under control till Allu Arjun stepped in.
"He came to the theatre, came out from the sunroof of his vehicle and started waving to the public gathered there. This gesture attracted a lot of the public towards the theatre's main gate. At the same time, his private security started pushing people to make way for his vehicle. His team was intimated to take him back citing a large public gathering but they didn't act on it and Allu Arjun was there inside the theatre for more than two hours. Therefore, it is clear that adequate police bandobast was in place, it was his actions which led to this unfortunate incident, in which a lady died and her son is still unconscious on a ventilator even after 9 days of the incident," police said.
Police also said that there was no information that the Pushpa 2 actor would be arriving at the theatre
BJP slammed the Congress-led Telangana government for the arrest of the cine star Allu Arjun.
In a social media post on X, senior BJP leader and Union Minister of State, Bandi Sanjay Kumar wrote, "Drama over delivery, diversion over governance - that's Telangana Congress Government for you! While those who once misruled and looted the state walk free, they arrested a National Award-winning actor to steal the spotlight. Sensationalism won't hide their incompetence - Whole Nation saw through Congress' desperate drama!"
Strongly protesting against Allu Arjun's arrest, Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday said in a post, "The loss of a woman's life in the stampede at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad is incomparable to the family. At the same time, @alluarjun expressed his sorrow over this and acted responsibly, saying that he would stand by the family. But how far is it fair to hold him directly responsible for this incident? Even though he was not involved in the stampede, it is not acceptable to frame criminal cases against Arjun and arrest him. I strongly condemn the arrest of Allu Arjun."
Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Pushpa 2: The Rule - Part 2 has earned around ₹13.96 crore across all languages by the afternoon of Day 9, according to Saclink.
The film has already broken several records in the first eight days of its release, with a total of ₹740.26 crore in collections so far in India.
By the afternoon of Day 9, the film's occupancy was 21.64 per cent in Telugu, 15.74 per cent in Hindi, 17.10 per cent in Tamil, 9.90 per cent in Kannada, and 6.06 per cent in Malayalam.
Varun Dhawan has also come out in support of Allu Arjun, stating it is not right to blame a single individual.
Speaking at the pre-release event of 'Baby John' in Jaipur, Varun said, "The actor cannot take sole responsibility for safety protocols. You can only advise the people around you... The incident was tragic. I extend my condolences, but at the same time, you cannot hold just one person accountable."
BRS Party Working President KT Rama Rao tweets, "...Arrest of National Award winning star Allu Arjun is the pinnacle of insecurity of the rulers. I totally sympathize with the victims of the stampede but who failed really? Treating Allu Arjun Garu as a common criminal is uncalled for especially for something he isn’t directly responsible..."
