Atul Subhash suicide case: Marathahalli police registered an FIR on the complaint filed by Atul Subhash's brother Bikas Kumar against 4 people including the techie's wife Nikita Singhania. The FIR has been registered under sections 108 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The FIR has been filed against Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha Singhania, brother Anurag Singhania and uncle Sushil Singhania.
In the suicide video, Atul accused his wife, her family members, and a judge of harassment, extortion, and corruption. Atul Subhash married Nikita Singhania in 2019 and had a child together.
In the complaint file by Bikas, it is alleged that the four accused filed a false case against Atul after their divorce and insisted on paying ₹3 crore for the settlement of the case. In addition to this, the complaint also alleges that Atul's wife had demanded ₹30 lakh to allow him to visit his son who is now four years old.
The complaint further alleges that Atul commited suicide as he was harrased mentally and physically. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered and an investigation is currently underway.
Atul was orginally from Uttar Pradesh and was living in Bengaluru's Manjunatha Layout in the Delfinium Residency.
Earlier while speaking to news agency ANI, Atul's brother Bikas Kumar had said, “Around 8 months after my brother's wife separated from him, she filed a divorce case and framed many charges against my brother and our entire family under different acts and sections.”
He further stated that all laws in India favour women over men, and his brother had fought for this cause before his tragic death. “Every law in India is for women, and not for men - my brother fought for this but he left us… Even in his suicide notes, he wrote that - "if I win from the system, devote my mortal remains in Ganga otherwise in a gutter outside the court"... My brother did everything for her. Whatever has happened was unfortunate."
The 34-year-old Bengaluru techie was found hanging in his home on Monday wherein he left a 24-page death note. According to the suicide note, his wife was already receiving ₹40,000 every month as maintenance, “despite working at Accenture and earning her own money”, and yet, she demanded ₹2-4 lakhs more. In his suicide note, Atul called for justice, stating, "Justice is Due" on every single page of the 24-page note.
He also recorded a video describing his alleged harassment and asking his family members not to immerse his ashes till justice is served to him. The note also called for his parents to be given custody of his child. His suicide note also had a message for his four-year-old son who he claimed had been kept estranged from him. The note and the link to the Video were sent to the WhatsApp group of an NGO, to which he was connected.
