Saugat-e-Modi: In a significant outreach effort, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has initiated the ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ campaign, aiming to distribute festive kits to 32 lakh underprivileged individuals from Muslim, Sikh, and Christian communities across India during the upcoming festivals of Eid, Baisakhi, and Easter.

BJP Minority Morcha chief Jamal Siddiqui emphasized that the initiative aims to strengthen bonds between the party and minority communities. “This is part of the BJP’s outreach and a way to demonstrate the ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ philosophy of the Narendra Modi government,” Siddiqui told The Hindu.

Festive Kits and Nationwide Distribution

Each kit contains essentials tailored to the festival. The Eid kits include dry fruits, besan (gram flour), suji (semolina), sewai (vermicelli), sugar, and a salwar kameez set. Similar customized packages will be distributed to Sikh and Christian families for Baisakhi (April 14) and Easter (April 20).

Siddiqui highlighted that 32,000 BJP workers have been tasked with reaching 100 households each.

“If they face challenges in making direct contact, they will coordinate with local mosques, gurdwaras, and churches to ensure the gifts reach the intended recipients,” he said.

By reaching out during these important festivals, the BJP aims to bridge gaps and demonstrate solidarity with minority communities. Siddiqui emphasized that this initiative is part of the BJP's broader outreach strategy and reflects the government's philosophy of inclusive development.

The ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ campaign holds particular significance as it comes at a time when the government is addressing concerns from sections of the Muslim community over the Waqf Amendment Bill.

However, Siddiqui dismissed any link between the campaign and the controversy, stating that such initiatives are part of the party's ongoing efforts to engage with all communities “Polls take place every year in some part of India or other, does that mean we don’t do such good works?” he said, adding, “Saugat ki koi keemat nahin hoti. (Gifts are priceless)”
