Multiple Delhi schools received bomb threats via email on Monday morning. According to Delhi Police, fire teams and bomb disposal squads, along with dog squads, were rushed to the spots. A total of ten schools are on alert since the bomb threat emails were received between 8:30 am and 9:00 am on 9 February, PTI reported.
As many as three South Delhi schools received bomb threats on Monday. These threats triggered panic and massive security concerns as schools were evacuated as a precautionary measure. Delhi Fire Services (DFS) said that emergency calls were received from multiple educational institutions across different parts of the city in the morning hours, following which fire tenders and bomb disposal teams were rushed to the locations.
"A total of 10 schools received bomb threats today. Fire service teams immediately reached the premises. Checking is underway," PTI quoted a DFS official as saying.
The threatening email carried disturbing and provocative content, claiming, 'Delhi will become Khalistan. Punjab is Khalistan. In memory of Afzal Guru'.
The email also alleged that a blast would take place inside Parliament on February 13 at 1.11 pm, prompting heightened security alerts and coordination among multiple agencies.
According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), emergency calls were received from multiple educational institutions across different parts of the city during the morning hours, following which fire tenders and bomb disposal squads were rushed to the locations.
According to ANI, the following Delhi schools received bomb threat email:
Loreto Convent School in Delhi Cantt, Cambridge School in Srinivasanpuri, Venkateshwar School in Rohini, Cambridge School in New Friends Colony, CM School in Rohini, DTA School in INA, Bal Bharati School in Rohini, Air Force School on Lodhi Road, KR Mangalam School and The Indian School in Sadiq Nagar.
As a precautionary measure, the school premises were evacuated and students, and staff were moved to safe locations. Bomb detection and disposal squads, along with dog squads, are conducting extensive search operations at the affected schools.
Senior police officers said cyber teams have been pressed into service to trace the origin of the email, while security arrangements across sensitive locations in the capital have been reviewed.
No suspicious object has been recovered so far from any of the school premises, officials said, adding that searches were continuing and further details were awaited.
An email threatening to blow up the Patna Civil Court complex was received on Monday, throwing the administration into a panic — the second such incident in the past month.
Police teams rushed to the premises and launched searches, but officials remained tight-lipped. Judicial work was suspended for the day, delaying proceedings including a bail hearing for Independent MP Pappu Yadav.
Yadav’s lawyer, Shivnandan Bharti, told reporters: "We have been told that a bomb threat has been received on the email address of the District Judge. As a result, the bail application of the MP can now be taken up not before tomorrow. My client shall have to spend another day in jail."
Yadav, the MP from Purnea, was arrested on Friday night in connection with a three-decade-old forgery case registered at the MP/MLA court.
The Congress has rallied behind him, with leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra alleging that the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government is targeting Yadav for criticising the investigation into the death of a NEET aspirant.
Notably, several courts in Bihar — including the Patna Civil Court — received similar bomb threats on January 8. Those emails were later found to be hoaxes.
