‘Perfect happiness is having peace of mind’

Schauna Chauhan joined Parle Agro in 1999 and at the age of 22 became part of the board of directors. The chief executive officer rolled out beverage brands like Frooti, Appy, Bailley and Café Cuba. Her three most important things in life are work, family and the relationship she builds with people. Chauhan loves travelling and adventure sports. One of her favourite ways to wind down is watching Korean shows.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

For me the whole idea of perfect happiness is having peace of mind. Keeping this in mind while taking decisions helps me even if it means I need to sometimes compromise.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

I do not believe I have achieved it as yet. Everyone has a different vision of what they would consider an achievement. As a company, there have been several achievements and successes that we have celebrated. But for me, I believe my achievement would be when my six-year-old son Jahaan decides to join the family business.

Who are your heroes in real life?

My parents are my heroes. My father, for his vision, innovations, mentoring, passion and persistence, and ability to re-engineer any problem with a solution. My mother, for always keeping me grounded and teaching the values of being a good person.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

Phrase that I overuse is, “Don’t tell me it’s not possible”. I have never believed in anything that’s not possible. Opportunities are everywhere. It’s how you look for them that will make it possible.

On what occasion do you lie?

You end up lying for two reasons, fear or love. My son’s two front teeth are going to fall off soon. He seemed a little nervous about it, so I told him how exciting it is and how the tooth fairy will come and take his tooth from under his pillow and leave him a small gift.
