Review: Azani Hyper Glide

Indian brand Azani Sport’s Hyper Glide running shoe is the underdog in the battle with better-known shoe brands. At first glance, the upper looks similar to that in more expensive shoes by Asics or Skechers. This is a breathable material, and the air circulation vents are prominent.
Slide your foot in, and the cushioning is impressive. It reminds you of the plushness the Nike Zoom Fly (around Rs14,495) offers. The toe box is quite wide, which means that someone with a wider forefoot will find this comfortable. There is enough vertical space too, and your toes don’t scrape against the inner lining.
Most running shoes have a heel-to-toe drop (also known as offset) upwards of 8mm, which can pose a slight learning curve. In the Hyper Glide, this offset is just 5mm. The comfort level is subjective, but anyone with flat feet will probably find this more comfortable.
The outsole is made of a grippy carbon rubber compound, which Azani claims will withstand around 500 miles of running. This falls well within the range of wear that the outsoles of most running shoes offer. The only shortcoming is that if the foot lands hard on a surface such as a pavement or a road, a slight jarring impact filters through around the heel area.
The Hyper Glide is available in black and orange colour options.
