Developer preview of Android 14 was released earlier this year. As has been the custom, the latest Android OS will come out of its beta at I/O 2023 event.
Powered by Google's Tensor G2 chipset, the table comes with Pixel phone features, like video calling, photo editing, and hands-free help with Google Assistant. It can also be paired with a charging speaker dock.

Google Pixel 7a will succeed the last year's Pixel 6a. The handset is likely to come with toned down features of Pixel 7 series and may feature a display with 90Hz refresh rate.
In India, the handset will debut on May 11, a day after I/O event. Flipkart has already created a microsite of the upcoming Pixel 7a phone that reads “The new Google Pixel phone is almost here! See you on May 11."

Google India has already confirmed the launch of Pixel 7a in India. The smartphone, according to rumours, is expected to come powered by Google Tensor G2 processor and may run on Android 14 out-of-the-box. Google unveiled its AI chatbot earlier this year. Amid the hardware announcements today, Google is expected to make some major announcements around generative AI developments during the conference.
The first event was held in May 2006 with just 100 attendees. The event was held in the Googleplex on Google’s Mountain View campus. Google skipped the year in 2020 due to covid pandemic.

Google I/O 2023 pre-show starts at 9:30 a.m. PT, and the event kicks off with the Google Keynote at 10 a.m. PT i.e. 10:30pm IST.
Google in the blog post says that both origins are true, but there’s more to the story. Digging deeper, the company says it held its first-ever developer conference, Geo Developer Day in May 2006.
“It was centered around our first publicly available developer tool, the Google Maps API, which launched the previous year. With just 100 attendees, the event was held in the Googleplex on Google’s Mountain View campus and was a fraction of the size of today’s I/O events."
“Flash forward a year and our suite of developer tools had expanded significantly — and we needed a bigger event to represent our products and engage with our growing developer community. Thus, I/O was born."
In a blog post, Google gives two possible explanations behind the name. First is that the name stands for “input / output," referencing the computational concept of interfacing between a computer system and the outside world. The second explanation you’ll see is that I/O stands for “innovation in the open," which also lines up with the event nicely.
