Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Delhi NCR, forecasting hail and thunderstorms at isolated places within the next two hours. Parts of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana are also expected to experience the same.
Gusty winds with speeds reaching up to 50-70 kmph are also expected in these regions.
Meanwhile, moderate rainfall accompanied with light thunderstorm and lightning is very likely to occur at many places of Delhi including Narela, Dilshad Garden, IGI Airport, Ayanagar among others.

The weather observatory also issued a moderate thunderstorm warning, highlighting potential impacts and safety measures for the public.
As per the IMD advisory, traffic disruptions are likely, and flight or train services may face delays. There is also a risk to livestock and people working outdoors.
Residents have been advised to stay indoors and avoid travel unless necessary. The IMD has also advised that electrical appliances should be unplugged to prevent damage from lightning surges.
People have been cautioned against taking shelter under trees or metal structures and using mobile phones outdoors during lightning activity.

Parts of Delhi saw light, ‘trace’ rainfall on Monday, with the monsoon gradually advancing towards northwest India.
On Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the southwest monsoon had advanced further, covering more areas of the North Arabian Sea, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh, as well as most of Chhattisgarh, all of Odisha, parts of Jharkhand, the entire Gangetic West Bengal, remaining areas of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and some parts of Bihar.
The IMD added that conditions remain favourable for the monsoon to continue its advance in the coming days.
