The US President Donald Trump will travel to India on 24th February for the first time since taking office to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The White House announced on Tuesday that Donald Trump will be accompanied by First Lady Melania Trump on the two-day trip. Responding to the news PM Modi tweeted that he is "extremely delighted" that US President Donald Trump and his wife will be in India later this month and added that they will be accorded a memorable welcome.
-President Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the “Kem chho Trump" (Howdy Trump) event at new Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium with over 1.25 lakh people witnessing the special programme directed at showcasing the Modi-Trump bonhomie. 'Robust friendship between India and US augurs well not only for their citizens but also entire world,' tweeted PM Modi today.
-The title for the event is ‘Kem Chho Trump’ which translates to howdy ,Trump as ‘kem chho’ being howdy’s equivalent in Gujarati.
-Trump’s visit to India will start from the Sabarmati Ashram. President Trump will also inaugurate the new Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium, the largest cricket stadium in the world.
-The Trumps will fly directly to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad where PM Modi will receive them at the airport.
-Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Trump said: “He is a friend of mine. He’s a great gentleman." Trump said he spoke to the Indian prime minister over the weekend, when Modi told him that millions of people will welcome him at the airport in Ahmedabad.
-The 'Howdy, Trump' event will be on the lines of the “Howdy Modi!" event in Houston during Modi's visit to the US last September. Mr. Trump participated in the event attended by more than 50,000 people, mostly Indian-Americans.
-Members of the Dawoodi Bohra community have been invited for the event.
-Since Modi took over as PM in 2014, several heads of state have visited Ahmedabad as part of their official tour to India, including Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2014, Japan PM Shinzo Abe in 2017, and Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu in 2018.
