NEW DELHI : The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Wednesday said that the entry and exit gates of five metro stations were closed in the evening to ease rush of passengers on New Year's Day.

The DMRC, in its official release, however, said that the interchange is available at Central Secretariat and Mandi House.

"Entry & exit gates of Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, Pragati Maidan, Khan Market and Mandi House are closed. Interchange is available at Central Secretariat and Mandi House," Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) tweeted.

Earlier on Tuesday, anticipating a huge crowd on the New Year's eve, the DMRC had restricted the exit from the busy Rajiv Chowk metro station after 9 pm.

"To ease overcrowding on New Year's Eve (December 31, 2019), exit from Rajiv Chowk metro station will not be allowed after 9 PM onwards. Entry of passengers will be allowed till the departure of the last train. Please plan your journey accordingly," the DMRC had tweeted.
