52-year-old coronavirus patient dies in Pune; Maharashtra death toll reaches 9

Mumbai: A 52-year-old coronavirus patient died in Pune today, taking the toll due to the viral infection in Maharashtra to nine, an official said.
The man was suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure, he said.
"His samples turned out positive for coronavirus on March 22. He died on Monday at a hospital in Pune," the official said.
The man was on ventilator support at the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital. He died of multiple organ failure today, Pune Mayor Murlidhar Mohol said.
Maharashtra is the worst hit state. It has so far 215 coronavirus positive cases, the state health ministry confirmed. Of the 215 coronavirus positive patients in Maharashtra, 88 are from Mumbai and 42 from Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad and rural area.
According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health, the total number of coronavirus cases in India has climbed to 1071, and 100 coronavirus patients have recovered from the disease.
