Aadhaar address change online: UIDAI launches new service to update address of family members

  • UIDAI has come up with address validation letter service to change address online
  • You can use the address of a family member, relative, friend or landlord to update your address in Aadhaar card

NEW DELHI : For all those who have changed their address but don't have any documentary address proof, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has now made it easier to change Aadhaar card address online.

Under a new facility to update address online, the UIDAI has allowed Aadhaar holders to use their address for updating address of their family members with the help of an address validation letter.

Aadhaar address can be updated with the consent of an address verifier, who can be a family member, relative, friend or landlord, willing to let you use their address as proof.

After you request for generation of Aadhaar validation letter on UIDAI website, the address verifier will get an SMS with link to give consent for the update. Clicking on the link will lead to the generation of an OTP for giving consent.

Once the consent of the Aadhaar verifier is received, an address validation letter with secret code is sent to his or her address by post within the next 30 days.

After that, you need to get the secret code from your address verifier and go to Aadhaar website and click on 'Proceed to Update Address' link. After sharing the secret code, you can update your address. You can download your e-Aadhaar online once your request is approved.
