Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi Marlena will head a three-member panel to draft the party’s manifesto for the 8 February assembly election, Delhi minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai said on Tuesday. AAP leaders Jasmine Shah and Ajoy Kumar are the other two members of the manifesto committee.

“There have been many suggestions received through booth campaigns, townhall meetings, mohalla sabhas and door-to-door meetings. All these suggestions will be compiled and taken into consideration and then the manifesto will be formalized," Rai told reporters.

“This committee will compile all the suggestions and focus on the policies the next government will work towards. This will be placed before the people between 15 and 20 January. The work done by this government will continue, but the committee will focus on the new work that the people want us to do. Cleanliness, traffic and other suggestions will be accommodated in the manifesto," Rai added.

The first phase of the party’s door-to-door election campaign began in September and the second phase ends on 10 January. As part of the campaign launched on 24 December, Delhi chief minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal has held seven townhall meetings across Delhi’s seven Lok Sabha segments. The party released a report card of its five-year government on 24 December. According to Rai, 60,000 party workers have taken the report card to three million houses as part of the door-to-door campaign.

The Election Commission (EC) on Monday announced the schedule for assembly elections in Delhi in which 70 assembly segments will go to polls on 8 February.Counting will take place on 11 February. Delhi is seeing a three-cornered contest between the AAP, Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress. In 2015, the AAP won an overwhelming majority, bagging 67 out of the 70 seats.
