A group named ‘Hindu Sena’ has filed a PIL in Delhi High Court against the film Adipurush and claimed that the film mocked Lord Ram, Ramayana, and out culture. Adipurush was released in theaters on Friday and since the release of the film, social media is filled with a variety of reactions to the film with some praising the film while others objecting to the different aspects of the film.

This is not the first legal problem for the film as on Thursday, the Bombay High Court refused to stay the release of the film after Trishul Media Entertainment, a VFX studio claimed that it is entitled to credits in the film.

While refusing to entertain the petition for an urgent hearing, the high court said that it is necessary to make the co-producer, Super Cassettes Pvt Ltd (known as T-series) party to the lawsuit.

Mixed responses

Adipurush was released in theaters on Friday and the industry is expecting a grand opening day. With a budget of 500 crore, the film is released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. The initial response from the theaters was mixed with some people praising the VFX and performances in the film, while others said that the film is low on content and the VFX is sometimes too much to handle.

As per the reports, the occupancy rates across the country stood at 50 to 55% with excellent response from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, where the occupancy rates are reported to stand at a whopping 99%.

Possible ban in Nepal?

The release of the film Adipurush also caused some upheavals in Nepal as Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah raised objections to dialogue in the film. Balen Shah claimed that the film refers Sita to as the “daughter of India” while she is widely regarded as the “daughter of Nepal.”

The Mayor warned the makers of the Adipurush to make changes in the film within three days to proceed with the scheduled release.
