Leh airport remained shut on Tuesday for civilians and the reason was an Indian Air Force (IAF)'s aircraft. An IAF C-17 aircraft has blocked the runway as the heavy-lifter is facing a technical issue.
Several disgruntled stranded passengers at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh took to Twitter and raised complaints.
An IndiGo passenger said that the Leh-bound flight was diverted to Chandigarh, and is now going back to Mumbai.
Another air flyer appealed to the Airport Authority of India (AAI) to allow a few additional flights to and from Leh airport.
Vistara informed passengers that flight UK601 from Delhi to Leh returned to the national capital due to runway restrictions today.
Several other Leh-bound flights diverted on 16 May such as Air India AI445 (A20N), SpiceJet SG8125, and IndiGo's 6E313, respectively. Most flights were diverted to Chandigarh and Srinagar. Some of them returned to Delhi and Mumbai.
Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh is one of the highest commercial airports in the world. The airport is situated at 3,256 m (10,682 ft) above sea level.
