A fan of Allu Arjun made waves on Friday night after attempting suicide outside Chanchalguda Jail while demanding his release. The actor was arrested and sent to 14 days judicial custody by a Telangana court this week over the death of a woman during the premiere of 'Pushpa 2: The Rule' at Sandhya Theatre.
Videos shared online show the unnamed fan creating a ruckus outside Chanchalguda Jail on Friday night as he demanded the release of Arjun. According to reports, he was taken into police custody after pouring petrol on himself to attempt self-immolation.
The Pushpa 2 actor was released from Chanchalguda Central Jail on Saturday morning after getting interim bail from Telangana High Court. His release was met with an outpouring of support from family, friends, and colleagues from the film industry.
A woman was killed and a child injured on December 4 during the premiere for Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre for the premiere of ' on December 4. Authorities allege that the actor's security team was responsible for pushing the crowd to clear the way for the actor's vehicle. Police also claimed that his team failed to take necessary actions to defuse the situation — despite being informed about the large crowd and potential danger.
“It was purely accidental and unintentional... I have been going to the same theatre for the last 20 years, and I have been to the same place more than 30 times. There has never been an accident like this before. I should reserve my comments because I don't want to say anything that will tamper with the case,” he said after receiving bail.
Allu Arjun also extended his condolences to the family of the deceased and assured that he would help them in every possible way. He thanked fans for their support and insisted that he was a ‘law-abiding citizen’ who would cooperate with the probe.
