Launching the election of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Delhi for the upcoming assembly elections, home minister Amit Shah on Thursday blamed Congress party and the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for instigating youth and minorities to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Shah also said that the statements of former Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal were similar to the statements of Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan. Speaking at a public meeting in Matiala, Shah said that a grand temple of Lord Ram would be constructed at Ayodhya in the coming four months.

“The people of Delhi have repeatedly defeated Arvind Kejriwal in all the elections in the except the assembly elections in 2015. People defeated Kejriwal in 2014 Lok Sabha polls, in Varanasi, in Haryana, Punjab and against in 2019 general elections," said Shah.

The home minister also said that Congress and AAP were responsible for the lack of peace in Delhi. Shah also alleged that Kejriwal has blocked implementation of 112 central schemes in Delhi, including Ayushman Bharat, which would have provided medical help to the financially weaker sections of Delhi.

Addressing the gathering, Shah also argued that the union government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi had removed Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, made instant triple talaq illegal in the country and implementation of CAA.

While talking about the development pitch of BJP in the Delhi elections, Shah said that Kejriwal had blamed PM Modi for not allowing him to work in Delhi for the past four and a half years but as soon as the elections were announced, the Delhi chief minister started talking about the development work.

“I have come to remind Arvind Kejriwal that you forgot the promises you made but neither the people of Delhi nor workers of BJP have forgotten...You became CM with help of Anna Hazare but could not bring a law for Lokpal and when PM Modi brought it you did not implement it here," Shah added.
