BharatPe co-founder and former Shark Tank India judge Ashneer Grover took a fresh jibe at the current judges of the show and advised them to put the money in the escrow account before season three shoot stars and ‘to invest money they should have it first’. This was a fresh jibe against the Shark Tank India judges as earlier while talking to the news platform Moneycontrol, Ashneer Grover said that the judges should not be called Sharks they should be called Dolphins.
"Solution is simple - ask Sharks to put money in escrow before shoot starts ! Dene ke liye paisa hona bhi chahiye ;)," Ashneer Grover said on social media platform Twitter.
Ashneer Grover's fresh attacks against Shark Tank India and its judges came as many founders have complained that after the show, the Sharks are either renegotiating the deals or have stopped responding to their calls.
“Sharks are called sharks because they're expected to take decisions and act quickly so that the 'fish' (the pitcher) has no time to react. If they say ‘no it takes time,’ then they shouldn’t be called Sharks — they should be called dolphins instead," Moneycontrol quoted Grover as saying.
Ashneer Grover stressed that the money promised to founders reaches them before the show is aired on television as after the screening of the show, the business will get boosted. He emphasized that it is better for both the founder and the shark to capitalize on the spike the business will get after the show gets aired.
The Moneycontrol report quoted a founder named Mohit, who witnessed a spike in the demand for his products after the screening of his episode. Ashneer Grover affirms that such a spike typically lasts for 30 days.
Another Shark Tank judge Anupam Mittal also talked about the side of Sharks and said sometimes the founder backtracks on the deal as they sees better funding opportunities after featuring on the show.
“Although not ideal, this is understandable since they are under no legal obligation to go ahead with the deal they agreed upon on the show. Further, shark schedules are extremely tight until the season is over. Between shooting and promoting the show, and running their companies, there is little time left for anything else, even family,” he told Moneycontrol.
