Prime minister Narendra Modi and his Australian counterpart Scott Morrison on Saturday created a stir on Twitter by posting pictures captioned with praises for each other in Hindi and Australian colloquialism.
The two leaders were in the Japanese city of Osaka for the G20 summit that has brought together a galaxy of world leaders.
Morrison was the first off the mark, tweeting a selfie with his Indian counterpart captioning the picture with "Kithana acha he Modi!"
Modi reciprocated the gesture with a tweet of his own addressing the Australian prime minister as "mate" and saying that he was “stoked about the energy" of India-Australia bilateral relationship.
“Mate" is Australian colloquialism for “friend" and “stoked" generally means “to be pleased" a person familiar with the development in New Delhi said.
The newly-elected Morrison later met Modi for formal talks before the latter flew out of Osaka for New Delhi at the end of the two day G20 meet.
