To provide a spectacular view of the airport akin to Singapore's Changi Airport, Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport will soon come up with two 40 metre high ‘Garden Pavilions’ for international travellers,
According to the reports, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) will construct two ‘Garden Pavilions’ within the international section of Terminal 2 (T2). They will provide a 360-degree panoramic view of the airport.
Passengers can enjoy the vantage point at the Garden Pavilions to witness planes taking off and landing. Not just this, the garden pavilion will also have a 20-meter monumental sculpture nearby in the forest belt of T2.
The elevated viewpoint will provide a magnificent 360-degree vista for passengers to enjoy the bustling activity of the airport, Hari Marar, MD and CEO of Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) told Moneycontrol.
In September, the international flight operations at Bengaluru airport will shift to the T2 airport. Other than the garden pavilions situated at the height of 40 metre, a restaurant facility will be available for international passengers at a level of 32 metre.
Bengaluru-based firm, Milestone, will be responsible for the execution of the project. The two pavilions will appear like an inverted bamboo basket. First garden pavilion is near completion and the next is half complete, a Milestone spokesperson told Moneycontrol.
The Garden Pavilions will offer a wide range of facilities and features for its passengers ranging from treetop outdoor lounge to exhibition centers. The pavilion is facilitated with modern and innovative watering technology which will be managed through a mobile application.
To amplify the garden-based theme of Terminal 2 of the International Airport with Garden Pavilions, BIAL sourced as many as 6 lakh plants from diverse ecological habitats in India. These plants will be fixated on the green walls, hanging gardens, green lagoons, etc. It is worth noting that the Terminal 2 of the airport was named as the ‘Terminal in a Garden’. The main intent behind the theme was to reflect the true spirit of Bengaluru which is also known as the Garden City. The metro city is a congruence of modernity, progress, and cherished traditions. T2 terminal was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022 and was built for ₹5,000 crore.
