Bhojpuri singer Nisha Upadhyay on Thursday suffered bullet injuries in a celebratory firing when she was performing at a cultural programme in Saran, Bihar police said.
The incident took place when she was performing during a cultural programme near Janata Bazaar police station jurisdiction in Saran. The bullet reportedly hit the singer's left thigh when some people at the programme opened fire, media reports say.
The famous folk singer was immediately taken to nearby hospital in Patna and her condition is stated to be stable, the reports added.
Saran police said they have received information about the incident but no written complaint has been filed yet. They are investigating how the gunshots were fired and who were all involved in the firing, the district police said
Nisha, a renowned Bhojpuri singer, hails from Bihar. She is a native of Gaur Basant village in Saran district. Her famous songs from the discography include Le Le Aaaye Coca Cola, Navkar Mantra, Dholida Dhol Re Vagad, and Hasi Hasi Jaan Marela.
