The due dates for GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C for FY18 have been extended in a staggered manner for different groups of states to 5 and 7 February, 2020, said Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs. CBIC mentioned on Twitter the new dates for different groups of states.
The new due date for Chandigarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand is now 5 February, 2020.
The states of Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Puducherry, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, West Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Goa, Himachal Pradesh,Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Other Territory will have to now file by 7 February, 2020.
This is the second extension in due dates since 31 January, 2020 when the GSTN portal had crashed.
Following a barrage of embarrassing complaints about the GST portal not working and lakhs of returns pending, CBIC had extended the dates for filing GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C forms for three days.
"Considering the difficulties being faced by taxpayers in filing GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C for FY 2017-18 it has been decided to extend the due dates in a staggered manner for different groups of states to 3rd, 5th and 7th February 2020 as under. Notifications will follow," CBIC had said.
Accordingly, the earlier deadline for the taxpayers in the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh would have ended today.
