Centre asks states to strictly implement lockdown measures
Home ministry's intervention comes just days after it had asked state administrations and police forces to seal state borders to prevent any influx of migrants to other states
NEW DELHI : The Union home ministry has tightened the execution of the ongoing lockdown, warning states against violations against the shutdown.
In a letter written by Union home secretary Ajay Bhalla to states, administrations have been "requested to strictly implement lockdown measures."
The letter has also stated, "some States/Union territories are allowing exceptions beyond what has been permitted under lockdown measures as contained in Consolidated Guidelines issued by MHA under Disaster Management Act 2005."
The home ministry's intervention comes just days after the ministry had cracked down on states, asking state administrations and police forces to seal state borders, to prevent any influx of migrants to other states.
The ministry has till now, only permitted the movement of essential commodities and individuals engaged in the supply-chain management to move during the ongoing lockdown, following the issuance of e-curfew passes.
