US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Monday said that he has received assurances from China that it will not send arms to Russia for its fight in Ukraine. Antony Blinken also raised concerns about the actions of private Chinese firms during the meeting, the news agency AFP reported on Monday.

"We and other countries -- have received assurances from China that it is not and will not provide legal assistance to Russia for use in Ukraine," Blinken told reporters after two days of talks.

"That is an important commitment, an important policy, and we've not seen anything right now to contradict that," Blinken added.

On US-China relations, Antony Blinken said that he agreed with China on the need for stable ties between both nations.

"In every meeting, I stressed that direct engagement and sustained communication at senior levels is the best way to responsibly manage differences and ensure that competition does not veer into conflict," Blinken told reporters in Beijing after two days of talks.

"I heard the same from my Chinese counterparts. We both agree on the need to stabilize our relationship," Blinken said.

Antony Blinken emphasized that Washington is not seeking "economic containment" of Beijing. The issue is one of the major contentions between the global powers as both countries have accused each other of a trade war. Recently, the US has banned exports of high-end semiconductors to China.

"We have no illusions about the challenges of managing this relationship. There are many issues on which we profoundly -- even vehemently -- disagree," Blinken said.

The Western countries were worried about the possible support of China to its ally Russia in the Ukraine war. Previously, several leaders including US President Joe Biden and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that if China chose to support Russia then it could drag the world to the brink of World War.
