Police reported a violent conflict between two groups in Akola, Maharashtra on Saturday night, resulting in one fatality and at least 10 injuries.
The district collector Neema Arora announced that Section 144 of Cr PC has been implemented in the city by the district administration following a violent clash that occurred in Akola, Maharashtra.
The clash occurred due to a disagreement between two groups over a minor issue in Harharpeth of the old city. Several individuals gathered in the area and began throwing stones at each other, leading to the destruction of multiple cars and motorcycles.
As a result, one person was killed and 10 others sustained injuries.
After the clash in Maharashtra's Akola, a large group of people marched to the Old City police station. In an effort to bring the situation under control, the police used force and continued to face tension in the area past midnight. Tear gas and firing were employed by the police to quell the violent mobs.
After the clash in Maharashtra's Akola, all the injured people, including a female police constable, were immediately taken to the nearby civil hospital for medical treatment. As per reports, two of them are in critical condition.
Senior police officials, including Superintendent of Police (SP), Sandeep Ghuge rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. A video that went viral purportedly showed two groups pelting stones and creating a ruckus on the streets.“Now the situation is under control,” said Monika Raut, the additional SP of Akola.
