A thick blanket of fog engulfed Delhi and its surrounding areas today morning affecting the air, rail and road traffic. The flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport have been affected due to bad weather.

"Due to bad weather, flight operations at Delhi airport are affected. While takeoffs and landings continue, some flights are impacted due to crew operational limitations," airport authorities tweeted.

The airport authorities have requested the passengers to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information. "Any inconvenience caused is regretted," it added.

Budget carrier IndiGo has asked passengers to check flight status before leaving for the airport as due to poor visibility in Delhi, flight departures and arrivals might be impacted.

Another airline, GoAir also issued an advisory requesting all customers to check their flight status either by sending an SMS G8 Flight No. to 57333 or calling at 18602100999.

"Due to bad weather at Delhi, all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights might get affected," SpiceJet tweeted.

On Thursday, IndiGo had cancelled around 19 flights departing from Delhi, while full-service carrier Vistara said its flights were delayed amid escalating protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum and maximum temperatures of the capital will hover around 8 degrees Celsius and 19 degrees Celsius. For the next two days, the sky will generally be cloudy with light rain or drizzle.
