Congress leader Digvijaya Singh takes swipe at PM Modi, says ‘If he returns to power in 2024…’
2 min read 01 Jun 2023, 10:36 AM ISTCongress leader Digvijaya Singh claimed that if PM Modi returns to power in 2024, only parties or leaders he approves of will contest elections in 2029. Singh also accused Modi of being a dictator who promotes himself and ruins the social economy of the country, using religion as a cover.

Veteran Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government, saying if PM Modi returns to power in 2024, only the parties or leaders that he approves of will be able to contest the elections in 2029.
The Congress leader remarked at an event at Gandhi Bhawan in the state capital Bhopal on Wednesday.
"If PM Narendra Modi returns to power in 2024, only the leaders or parties he approves of will be able to contest the elections (in 2029). There is a precedent for the same in many countries. He (PM Modi) will be in power in the Opposition as well," Singh said.
"Our supreme leader (PM Modi) is an expert in the art of speaking but not in listening. This is the hallmark of a dictator, who has no faith in democracy," Singh said.
The Congress veteran claimed that in the past nine years of governance, all PM Modi did in these years was promote himself and polish his global image.
"The social economy of the country has been ruined. He (PM Modi) has inflicted the biggest loss on the country. Using religion as a cover, he is taking the whole country down a road where if a person is not a fan of Modi-ji, he is branded a traitor and the rest are patriots. If anyone criticizes PM Modi, ED, IT, and CBI are let loose on him," Singh alleged.
Yesterday Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a dig at PM Narendra Modi describing him as a "specimen" who thinks he knows more than God and alleged that the idea of India is under attack.
Speaking at the 'Mohabbat Ki Dukaan' event organised by the Indian Overseas Congress USA, Gandhi took an apparent jibe at the Modi government saying these people are "absolutely convinced" that they know everything and can explain history to historians, science to scientists and warfare to the army.
"There is a group of people in India who are convinced they know everything. They think they know even more than God.
"They can sit with God and explain to him what’s going on. And of course, our prime minister is one such specimen. If you sat Modiji with God, he will explain to God how the universe works and God will get confused about what have I created," he said, evoking laughter from the audience.
