Coronavirus: Govt issues FAQs on new visa restrictions for OCIs
Those infants/children who hold foreign passports with OCI cards but parents are Indian are also required to get fresh visa from Indian Mission/Post
In the wake of new restrictions imposed due to the spreading of coronavirus and uncertainty surrounding them, the Ministry of Home Affairs on Friday issued a series of Frequently Asked Questions for Overseas Citizens of India.
OCI card holders are requited to get fresh visa from Indian Mission/Post.
Those infants/children who hold foreign passports with OCI cards but parents are Indian are also required to get fresh visa from Indian Mission/Post.
The OCI card holders coming from or have visited South Korea or Italy on or after 15 February, 2020 require Covid-19 Negative Certificates.
India on Wednesday suspended all visas, except a few categories such as diplomatic and employment, till 15 April in view of the coronavirus outbreak, which has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
The suspension came into effect from 1200 GMT on March 13 at the port of departure.
"All existing visas, except diplomatic, official, UN/International organisations, employment and project visas, stand suspended till 15th April 2020. This will come into effect from 1200GMT on 13th March 2020 at the port of departure," an official statement said issued on Wednesday.
Visa-free travel facility granted to Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) card holders is also kept in abeyance till 15 April, it said.
The number of novel coronavirus cases on Friday rose to 81, which include 16 Italians and one Canadian, Health Ministry officials said.
