NEW DELHI: Playback singer Kanika Kapoor has tested positive for Covid-19, according to media reports.
The 41-year old vocalist took to Instagram to share a selfie and a picture of the earth wearing a mask to say she had been experiencing signs of flu and decided to get tested, with the results coming positive.
“My family and I are in complete quarantine now and following medical advice on how to move forward. Contact mapping of people I have been in touch with is underway as well," wrote the singer with travel history to London.
Kapoor, admitted to the King’s George Medical University, arrived in Lucknow on 15 March. She is said to have not informed authorities about her travel history and also hosted a gathering for her friends and family.
"I was scanned at the airport as per normal procedure 10 days ago when I came back home, the symptoms have developed only 4 days ago. At this stage I would like to urge you all to practice self isolation and get tested if you have the signs," she added in her statement.
Kapoor is best known for songs like Baby Doll (Ragini MMS 2) and Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan (Roy). Other movie celebrities who have tested positive for corona include Hollywood actors Tom Hanks and Idris Elba.
