NEW DELHI: Actor Tom Hanks, best known for films like Sully, Cast Away, Forrest Gump and Saving Private Ryan, has tested positive for corona and admitted to corona-like symptoms on his social media. The World Health Organization on Wednesday declared COVID-19 as a pandemic.
“Hello folks, Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive," the actor wrote on Twitter.
“Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We’ll keep the world posted and updated," he added.
On the work front, Hanks is slated to star in war film Greyhound and in News of the World directed by Paul Greengrass. He was last seen in Toy Story 4 and A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood.
The virus has so far claimed 4,630 human lives since it erupted at Wuhan in China in December. Of this, 3056 people have died in China and 827 in Italy, the most affected country after the Asian nation. 126,136 people have been affected so far.
