A 65-year-old coronavirus patient passed away in Mumbai today, taking the total number of death toll in the country to 10. The patient had a history of travelling to UAE. The elderly man was admitted to Kasturba Hospital, reported ANI.
The patient was also suffering from pre-existing ailments, including high blood pressure and severe diabetes, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a statement.
This is the third death reported from Mumbai. A 63-year-old coronavirus patient died in Mumbai on Sunday, said a health official. Earlier another patient with COVID-19 passed away in Mumbai's Kasturba Hospital.
A 68-year-old man from Philippines who recovered from coronavirus infection, died in Mumbai on Monday. The man had initially tested positive for coronavirus. He was under treatment at the Kasturba hospital. He was later shifted to a private hospital after his test report came out negative, BMC said in a statement. Later, union health ministry said the death of the man from Philippines is not COVID-19 death.
With four new cases, the total number of coronavirus cases rises to 101 in Maharashtra. To contain the further spread, Maharashtra government imposed curfew in the entire state. A total of 12 COVID-19 patients in Mumbai have been cured of the deadly viral infection, a senior civic official said on Tuesday.
"Twelve coronavirus patients have now tested negative for the infection. They were being treated at various civic-run hospitals here for last some days," said Daksha Shah, deputy director of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) health department.
"In the last couple of days, we noticed these 12 patients getting better. Their fresh swab samples were sent for tests and the results came out negative," another BMC official said. Hence, the authorities have decided to discharge them soon, the official added.
The Centre put over 550 districts under lockdown to prevent the coronavirus infection. All the domestic flights will be suspended from tonight.
