A junior doctor in the King George's Medical University (KGMU) has tested positive for coronavirus in Lucknow, taking the total number of cases in Uttar Pradesh to 16. This is the third novel ccase in Lucknow.
The junior doctor, who was a part of the medical team that has been treating COVID-19 patients, has been quarantined in the KGMU.
Earlier, a woman doctor and her relative had tested positive for the deadly virus and have been undergoing treatment in the KGMU.
So far, sixteen cases of coronavirus have been reported from Uttar Pradesh, including this junior doctor. These include eight from Agra, three each from Noida and Lucknow, and two from Ghaziabad. Health officials said that three corona patients had recovered fully and had been discharged while the rest were still under treatment.
The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India has reached 147, including 122 Indians and 24 foreign nationals, as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Maharashtra is the worst-hit state with 38 cases, followed by Kerala, with 25 cases. Globally, the virus has infected more than 184,000 people and killed more than 7500, as per the data available on the World Health Organisation website.
