Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport experiences flight disruptions as heavy rain and adverse weather conditions persist. The airport authorities advised passengers to stay in touch with their respective airlines for the latest updates on flight information.

Operational meteorologist, Navdeep Dahiya informed, “Airport clocked massive 102km/h wind gust, flights seen circling around and none was able to land.”

The India Meteorological Department said a cluster of cloud patches is passing through Delhi-NCR. Under its influence, thunderstorms, dust storm with light to moderate intensity rain and gusty winds with a speed of 40-70 kmph would continue in Delhi-NCR and adjoining areas during the next two hours, it said around 6.30 am.

"Due to bad weather, flight operations are impacted at Delhi Airport. It is advisable to contact the airlines concerned for updated flight information," the Delhi Airport said in a statement on Saturday.

Delhi experienced a maximum temperature of 34.5 degrees Celsius on Friday, which was significantly below the normal range by five notches. In contrast, parts of Delhi-NCR encountered heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds on Saturday morning.

According to the IMD, Delhi received rainfall measuring 2 mm from 8:30 am on Thursday to 8:30 am on Friday. At 8:30 am, the relative humidity stood at 67 per cent. SAFAR data indicated that the city's air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 75 around 9 am, falling within the satisfactory category.

The AQI scale categorizes levels between zero and 50 as "good," 51 and 100 as "satisfactory," 101 and 200 as "moderate," 201 and 300 as "poor," 301 and 400 as "very poor," and 401 and 500 as "severe."
