DELHI AIRPORT :
As many as 46 flights were diverted from Delhi airport due to the dense fog that enveloped the national capital today morning, confirmed Delhi airport officials.
Several flights were also delayed from Friday midnight. Delhi Airport officials cited poor visibility at the runway behind the disruption in the flight operations. Officials said visibility reduced to zero at some places in the morning.
"While landings and take offs continue at Delhi airport, flights that are not CAT III A compliant may get affected," Delhi airport authority tweeted from its official handle at 8.30 am. Passengers are asked to contact the concerned airlines for the latest updates.
Air traffic was severely affected as visibility dropped considerably on Saturday morning. Budget airline IndiGo wrote on Twitter, "There have been significant flight disruptions today due to bad weather & air traffic congestion at Delhi."
Vistara is continuously updating the list of flights that have been delayed or diverted due to the low visibility in the national capital.
Air India also assured passengers that the disruption will be minimal. The airlines posted on Twitter, "Due to poor visibility conditions at @DelhiAirport, flight arrival and departure may get affected.We assure our esteemed pax that flt operations are CATIII compliant and disruptions will be very minimal."
Over 750 flights were delayed, 19 cancelled and five were diverted from the national capital on Friday, reported PTI.
"Approximately 320 departures and around 440 arrivals were delayed due to fog enveloping the airport on Friday morning," a senior airport official said.
