Passengers flying in and out of Delhi airport should note that the airport will be shut for two hours today. There will be no flights for two hours today due to Republic Day parade rehearsals. Due to Republic Day celebrations on January 18, 20-24, and 26, flight operations will not take place for around two hours at the Delhi airport. No flight operations will take place at the airport between 10:35 am and 12:15 pm on the aforementioned dates.
Budget carrier IndiGo has advised passengers to reach airport before time to avoid any inconvenience. "Due to heightened security owing to Republic Day, passengers may face rush at the airports. We request all passengers to reach the airport at least 3 hours prior to departure to avoid any hassle," the airline tweeted.
Another carrier Vistara tweeted 'Flights to and from Delhi on 18th Jan, 20th - 24th Jan and 26th Jan might be affected due to airspace restrictions for Republic Day rehearsals."
SpiceJet asked passengers to keep a check on their flight status. "Do keep a check on your flight status,: The airline said in a tweet.
Evey year, Delhi turns into a virtual fortress ahead of the Republic Day.
This week, the traffic movement will also be interrupted in Delhi in areas around Raj Path where rehearsals for Republic Day will be held on 21st January, Delhi traffic police had tweeted.
