The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has closed several metro in the wake of nation-wide protest against Citizenship Amendment Act. Some of the busiest metro stations in the national capital including the Central Secretariat, Kashmere Gate, Chandni Chowk, Janpath, Mandi House, Pragati Maidan, Khan Market are shut. Earlier, Rajiv Chowk metro station was also shut but now the entry is permitted, said DMRC.
At 6.40 pm, DMRC updated the list of metro stations which are presently closed.
Central Secretariat, Chawri Bazar, Chandni Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, Delhi Gate, Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, Khan Market, Janpath, Pragati Maidan, Mandi House, Jamia Millia Islamia, Jaffrabad, Maujpur-Babarpur, Shiv Vihar, Johri Enclave.
Earlier, the entry and exit gates at the Kashmere Gate metro station were also closed but DMRC has opened the metro station for the commuters. Earlier today, the DMRC had closed the Jama Masjid, Delhi Gate, Jaffrabad, Maujpur-Babarpur, and Jamia Millia Islamia metro stations.
In a tweet, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said that entry and exit gates of Chandni Chowk are closed. Trains will not be halting at Chandni Chowk station, said DMRC. "Gate no. 3 and 4 of Kashmere Gate have been opened," Delhi Metro added.
Earlier, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation informed that entry and exit gates are closed in Central Secretariat metro station. However, the interchanging facility is available at Central Secretariat metro station.
"Entry and exit gates of Rajiv Chowk, Pragati Maidan, Mandi House, Janpath and Khan Market are closed. Interchange facility is available at Rajiv Chowk," the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said.
Earlier, DMRC had tweeted about entry and exit gates of Shiv Vihar being closed. "Entry and exit gates of Jamia Millia Islamia, Johri Enclave, Chawri Bazar, Lal Quila and Jama Masjid are closed. Trains will not halt at these stations," the DMRC tweeted.

"Of the 285 stations, Chawri Bazar, Lal Quila, Jama Masjid & Delhi Gate on violet line, Jaffrabad & Maujpur-Babarpur on pink line and Jamia Millia Islamia on magenta line are closed as per instructions of security agencies. Rest of the metro network is operating as per schedule," DMRC tweeted.
Earlier in the morning, DMRC opened Jamia Millia Islamia and Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh metro stations, around 24 hours after they were shut in view of protests in the city against the amended Citizenship Act.
Security forces carried out a flag march in Seelampur area ahead of a planned protest march by Bhim Army from Jama Masjid to Jantar Mantar against the amended citizenship law. Prohibitory orders were imposed in 12 police station areas of Northeast Delhi, officials said, adding police used drones to keep a tab on the law and order situation in the district.
