Delhi Police halts protesters’ march to Amit Shah's residence

Protesters against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act, or CAA, failed to meet Union home minister Amit Shah over lack of permission, days after he said that he was ready to hold talks with those agitating at Shaheen Bagh.
On Thursday, Shah had said that if the protesters at Shaheen Bagh wanted to discuss their reservations against CAA, his office would give time within three days.
The protesters had announced that they would march to the residence of the home minister on Sunday to discuss CAA but a large number of policemen were deployed at Shaheen Bagh as the protesters did not have an appointment with the home minister.
After the march of protesters was stopped by the police, senior members of the Delhi Police, including deputy commissioner (DCP) (Southeast) R.P. Meena, additional DCP (Southeast) Kumar Gyanesh and Shaheen Bagh SHO, held talks with a group of protesters and assured them that their application seeking an appointment has been sent to the concerned authorities for further action.
