Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport issued a passenger advisory, warning of inclement weather conditions in the vicinity of the airport.

"As per the Indian Meteorological Department's forecast, inclement weather conditions are expected in the vicinity of Delhi Airport. However, flight operations at Delhi Airport are currently normal. Our on-ground teams are working diligently with all stakeholders to ensure your journey remains hassle-free. For the latest flight information, passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines," the passenger advisory read.

Delhi has recorded over 2,300 Influenza-A cases this year, including more than 1,777 H1N1 cases till Friday, with 114 H1N1 cases reported on Thursday alone, according to health department data.

H1N1 cases rise in Delhi-NCR. Doctors and health experts said that children, elderly people, pregnant women and those with chronic illnesses are the most vulnerable to severe infection.

The rainfall brought down minimum temperatures across the city, with all five IMD stations recording temperatures below normal.

Heavy rains in the early hours of Tuesday left several parts of Delhi waterlogged and traffic crawling. Many areas received around 100 mm of rainfall or more in the 24-hour period ending 8:30 am.

Dr Satish Koul, Internal Medicine Specialist, Fortis Hospital, told PTI that a highly effective vaccine is available for swine flu or influenza.

“For people above 65 years of age, vaccination is particularly important, although there is no specific age limit, so everyone can get vaccinated,” he said. “The vaccine can help protect against swine flu and influenza and is quite effective, with an estimated protection rate of around 40-50%.”

The Gurugram administration advised corporate offices to allow employees to work from home on Tuesday and ordered government and private schools and educational institutions to conduct classes online in view of heavy rainfall and the possibility of waterlogging and traffic congestion, officials said.
