Earthquake of 4.3 magnitude strikes Rajasthan's Bikaner, tremors felt in adjoining areas
A 4.3 magnitude earthquake hit Bikaner, Rajasthan on 6 June at 11:36 pm. No casualties were reported. Bikaner has experienced earthquakes twice in the past year.
A mild earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale struck Bikaner in Rajasthan on 6 June. The earthquake took place in the late hours of June 6 at 11:36 pm, while the tremors of the quake could be felt in the adjoining areas. No casualties related to the earthquake have been reported so far.
The epicentre was 685 kilometres west of Bikaner, while the quake struck at a depth of 10 kilometres.
National Center for Seismology (NCS) while updating about the information n Twitter, wrote, “Earthquake of Magnitude:4.3, Occurred on 06-06-2023, 23:36:57 IST, Lat: 28.36 & Long: 66.33, Depth: 10 Km , Location: 685km W of Bikaner, Rajasthan, India for more information"
Bikaner has been hit by earthquakes on at least two other occasions in the past year alone. A 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck the area at 2.16 am on 26 March. According to the NCS, the epicentre of this earthquake was 516 km west of Bikaner, while it struck at a depth of 8 km.
Similarly, the NCS had informed about a 4.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Bikaner at 2:01 am on 22 August 2022. The epicentre of that earthquake was reported to be around 236 north-west of Bikaner, striking at a depth of 10 km.
