Bhartiya Kisan Union will organize a ‘maha panchayat’ in Muzaffarnagar's Soram village today, Thursday, June 1, to discuss the ongoing protest by wrestlers against the WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh over sexual harassment charges.

Wrestlers' protest: Here's a 10-point guide on farmers' meeting

1) BKU leader Naresh Tikait informed that representatives of different khaps and their heads from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab Rajasthan, and Delhi will participate in the maha panchayat.

2) Tikait played an important role in persuading some of India's top wrestlers to immerse their medals in Ganga in Haridwar on Tuesday.

3) The head of the Balyan Khap, on Tuesday, stopped India's top wrestlers from immersing their medals in the Ganga river in Haridwar and sought five days from award-winning grapplers.

4) After meeting the protesting wrestlers in Uttarakhand, the farmer leader and other khap and other political leaders were able to convince the protesters after spending an hour and forty-five minutes.

5) Olympic medallists Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia, and Asian Games gold medallist Vinesh Phogat went to Har ki Pauri on Tuesday to protest the inaction against the Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Singh.

6) On the day of the inauguration of the new parliament building, these top grapplers were dragged to different sites and detained for hours by the Delhi police.

7) The Delhi police detained these protesting wrestlers at different sites and removed the trampolins, mats, and other belongings of protesting farmers from Jantar Mantar.

8) The wrestlers have been protesting since January this year. They are demanding action against the WFI chief, whom they are accusing of sexually harassing seven athletes, including a minor.

9) However, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on Wednesday responded to the protesting wrestlers' allegations and said that he would "hang" himself if allegations against him are proven.

10) The top wrestlers of India who are protesting against the WFI chief in the national capital, include Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia, etc.
