Fire breaks out in basement of Mumbai's Income Tax office ‘Aayakar Bhavan’
The Mumbai Fire Brigade received the initial call at 2:01 pm. The blaze was officially declared a Level-I fire at 2:10 p.m.
The basement of Aayakar Bhavan, the Income Tax office located on Maharshi Karve Road in Mumbai, was engulfed by fire on Monday afternoon. Firefighting operations are underway, and no injuries have been reported so far.
According to an NDTV report, the Mumbai Fire Brigade received the initial call at 2:01 pm. The blaze was officially declared a Level-I fire at 2:10 p.m.
The blaze is reportedly confined to the basement of Aayakar Bhavan, which is a basement-plus-ground-plus-seven-storey structure.
The upper floors were evacuated due to smoke from the fire.
A rapid, coordinated effort was launched at the scene, bringing together several of the city's emergency services to manage the ongoing crisis. First responders rushed to the location immediately, including the Mumbai Fire Brigade, Mumbai Police, BEST utility workers, BMC ward officials, and the 108 ambulance service.
To ensure the safe aerial evacuation of individuals from the upper floors, advanced machinery, specifically a turntable ladder and an aerial ladder platform, was deployed to the site
Fortunately, there have been no injuries or casualties reported thus far. As of the latest updates, active firefighting efforts remain ongoing.
Authorities are still awaiting further investigations to determine the origin of the fire and to assess the full scope of the resulting damage.
