A fire broke out within the premises of a theme-based adventure games area in Delhi on Sunday afternoon. The incident took place at the Mystery Rooms arcade in the outer circle area of Connaught Place. Officials said that one person had been rescued with the help of firefighters after becoming trapped inside the shop.
“We rushed five fire tenders to the spot. So far, no injuries were reported…Fire is under control,” said Delhi Fire Services chief Atul Garg.
According to the official, a call was received at 3.22 pm reporting that a fire had broken out in the games area. The blaze was brought under control after five fire tenders rushed to the site. No casualties or injuries were reported.
Visuals taken by Hindustan Times show show smoke billowing out of the first floor window of the theme-based adventure game zone. Firemen can be seen standing atop a crane-like machine parallel to the window as they assess the situation.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
The development also came mere hours after three restaurants, two shops and flats were gutted in the city. Delhi Fire Service officials said they had received a call at 5.44 PM reporting that a fire had broken out in electric wires outside a restaurant in Shaheen Bagh. It had spread to the eatery by the time fire fighting engines reached the spot.
Around 18 fire tenders were pressed into service and it took one and a half hours to control the blaze. A police officer told news agency PTI that the fire is suspected to have started due to a short circuit in electric wires outside the Zaika Restaurant.
